Painting on the Trail

One of my favorite things to do is to bring my painting supplies with me on a hike.

In this video, I walk through the art supplies and hiking gear I pack for casual painting outdoors, including my gouache palette, sketchbook, brushes, backpack setup, microspikes, trekking poles, and trail essentials. Then we head into the mountains for a snowy spring hike and a little plein air painting along the way.

If you’ve ever wanted to bring a sketchbook outside but felt intimidated, I hope this gives you a glimpse of what it can actually look like.
