Join us June 15th to 18th for a relaxed and inspiring outdoor workshop at beautiful Wellington Lake designed especially for beginner artists looking to experience the joy of painting in nature.
Set in the stunning scenery near Wellington Lake outside Bailey, Colorado, this intimate four-day trip brings together creative exploration and wilderness beauty without demanding long hikes — all prime painting locations are just steps from camp. You’ll camp in tents with a small group (limited to 8 guests) that creates a supportive, encouraging environment perfect for first-time plein air painters or anyone wanting to grow their confidence with oils.

Backpacking and Art Along the East Inlet in Rocky Mountain National Park is an immersive backpacking and field-drawing experience for artists and outdoor enthusiasts who want a focused wilderness art trip. This experience is designed around meaningful time in place — hiking into the backcountry, establishing a scenic basecamp, and spending dedicated time observing and drawing the landscape over the course of three days.
Hosted by Colorado Mountain Expeditions and led by artist Katy Betz, this trip combines guided backpacking with structured and supportive outdoor art instruction. CME guides lead the wilderness travel portion of the experience, providing support from trailhead to backcountry campsite, while Katy guides participants through observational sketching and composition in an alpine environment.

Backpacking and Art at Sand Beach Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park is an immersive backpacking and field sketching experience for artists who want more than a quick visit to the outdoors. This trip is designed around time, intention, and presence—time to settle into a remote landscape, intention in both travel and art-making, and the presence that comes from spending multiple days deep in Rocky Mountain National Park’s Wild Basin.

Imagine waking to crisp mountain air, stepping outside your private cabin, and watching the first light move through golden aspen leaves. Each day of this immersive plein-air oil painting adventure invites you into Colorado’s autumn landscape at its most vibrant — not as a visitor, but as a painter working directly from nature.
Set in Golden Gate Canyon State Park, this four-day experience blends moderate hiking, outdoor painting, thoughtful instruction, and genuine comfort. You will spend your days walking forested trails, discovering inspiring viewpoints, and painting in the field while fall colors glow around you. Evenings are spent returning to warm cabins, sharing satisfying meals, reflecting on the day’s work, and enjoying the quiet camaraderie of a small creative group.
