Join artist and educator Katy Betz for a free one hour drawing demonstration focused on practical tips for drawing trees with greater confidence and structure.
Learn how to simplify complex tree forms, build believable branches, and use shape, value, and texture to create trees that feel natural rather than stiff or overly detailed.
This session offers a preview of techniques covered in Katy’s Drawing the Colorado Landscape workshop on Sept 5th and is perfect for anyone interested in strengthening their landscape drawing skills.

Learn to draw the beauty of Colorado's landscapes through observation and simple, approachable drawing techniques. In this beginner-friendly workshop, students will explore the shapes, textures, and patterns found in trees, clouds, mountains, and other natural forms. Through demonstrations and guided exercises, participants will learn how artists simplify complex subjects, create the illusion of depth, and capture the character of the landscape.

Take the mystery out of color! This hands-on class explores the foundations of color mixing and color relationships through practical exercises designed to strengthen confidence and improve painting results. Students will learn howto mix cleaner colors, create harmonious palettes, understand warm and cool color relationships, and avoid muddy mixtures. The concepts taught in this workshop apply to gouache, watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting.Students will develop a stronger understanding of color theory, learn practical color mixing strategies, create a series of color studies, and gain tools that can be applied across multiple painting mediums
